Why I’m bullish about East Auckland!
I often get asked why I’m so bullish about East Auckland. Here are three big reasons:
1. The people & lifestyle
If you live in Howick, chances are you’ll stay. The area offers so many amenities, from a well-established hospitality scene to coastal walks, beaches, and a strong sense of community. It’s a part of Auckland that feels both vibrant and grounded.
2. Major infrastructure investment
Next week, the long-awaited Reeves Road Flyover (Rā Hihi) will partially open. This $152 million project is the largest public infrastructure development in our area in decades — delivered under budget and ahead of schedule.
Once fully open on Labour Day, it will significantly improve connections between Pakuranga Road and the South-Eastern Highway, easing congestion and boosting accessibility. That’s a big win for residents, commuters, and local businesses.
3. Top-performing schools
East Auckland boasts some of the most desirable school zones in the country. Macleans College is the only public school consistently ranked in New Zealand’s Top 10 high schools. St Kentigern offers world-class private education with a strong academic and co-curricular reputation. Botany Downs Secondary and Pakuranga College are also highly respected, making the area a magnet for families seeking quality education.
Put simply, East Auckland has the lifestyle, infrastructure, and schools that make it one of the most desirable areas to live and invest in.
